Freda's Place

Introducing:  Rêves Fantastiques A kitely organization, administered by Destiny Seranade, Dan Sings, Heximer Thane, and Freda Frostbite. Rêves Fantastiques hosts Belle Terre arts center, Desti-Nation (under construction), the RF Hub (under construction),  and La Belle Folie Amusement Park (under construction).  In the future, there will be worlds based on fiction created by virtual worlds authors as well as any other worlds where users would like to make dreams (or nightmares) reality.  We are interested in hearing region ideas and proposals from others who would like to join us at Rêves Fantastiques.

April got off to a very rough start for me in First Life, the result being that virtual plans for Belle Demeure had to be put on hold.  Here is the (as ever) flexible plan for the next seven days at Belle Demeure. Hello friends!  In first life, Hex and I are well into the throes of a Florida winter, meaning I had to wear socks yesterday.  I am happy to report that, In SL, no socks are required and I could wear flip flops every single day if my fashionably manicured avatarian feet did not scream for haute couture.  Of course, there are parts of SL where it is always winter, but, here, at Belle Demeure, it is eternal spring.  I do hope you'll drop by this month to feel the warmth and to see the holiday display in the main salon at the chateau.  Of course, I encourage you to to take in an event or two here as well.  We have quite a lot going on this month.  As always, you are invited.  I hope you'll start by attending IanLee Patton's art exhibit, opening December 2, at our Frostbite-Thane Gallery.  Ian is a well-established artist in his first life, as well as SL. Babble Cafe and Books has opened a new location at The Lanes, a very smart shopping district operated by Cherry Charlesworth and Veronika Garzo in Inworldz.  The shop is still "under construction" and probably always will be.  But it's starting to take shape.  Feel free to pop in whenever you like.    http://places.inworldz.com/The%20Lanes/243/143/22 At The Lanes, Hex and I will be hosting events at the cafe and in the luscious Lily Lanes Ballroom. The first of those ballroom events will be held Friday, May 26 at 5PM Grid Time.  It will be a night of tango! Tuesday, the 23rd, Freda will host Fine Arts Talk at 11:30 AM Grid Time in the Cafe.  This is a time for artists of all kinds (as well as their patrons and fans) to discuss the arts that are their passions.  There is no agenda for this session.  The discussion takes us where it takes us.   Thursda

Six years of creating magic. DJ G Winz:  The theme for our party was Outer Space, Factual or Fictional Hex and Freda, celebrating six years partnership, dressed as Mal and Inara from Firefly. Today, Hex and Freda celebrated 6 years committed to one another in virtual worlds and beyond. And Freda celebrated her 8th Rez Day. Many of our friends were there. in the upper ballroom Freda made for the occasion. The conversation and was as vibrant as the colors of the ballroom. Dancing and music in sl have meant a lot to us over the years. Tonight was another special time.   This has always been Freda's favorite dance in sl. It is called "Becoming."

Greetings from the solid world.  I have hardly been inworld at all recently.  When, I have been, it's been only long enough to pay virtual rent (with real money, of course).  That being the case, my partner and I decided it was time to give up our most expensive land.  This was land in UUtopia, Second Life, where we met and where we have had several properties in the last six years.  I am surprisingly nostalgic about giving up this property.  It's surprising because I am really not the sentimental type at all.  I've walked away from literally dozens of real homes in my lifetime and never felt the pangs of loss as I have over our UUtopia land.  I suppose it is because this was the place  that changed my real life for the better.  I met the love of my life there and I can feel nothing but happiness for that.  We may be back one day, assuming SL is still there when we have the time to actually make use of it again.  In the meantime, I still have my shop on Book Island.  N

Doing the samba to Joe Cocker's "You Can Leave Your Hat On," requested as a dedication from one of us to the other.  I'll leave it to you to guess who has the raunchy taste in love songs.    You may not know our story.  Hex and I met almost six years ago in Second Life.  Back then, our avatars danced together a LOT.  One of the places we liked to go was Foxxies.  Now, we've lived together in Florida for four and a half years.  Once in a while, we dance in real life.  The other night, we put on our avatars and went to see if Foxxies is still in business.  Happily, it is.    

Tuesday was my Rez Date.  I turned six in Second Life.  It was also the anniversary of the date Heximer Thane and I partnered in SL and the day we celebrate our first life anniversary.  April 7 being so laden with reasons to celebrate, we decided to throw a party on our new/old parcel in UUtopia, Alcott.  The theme was Tiki; the music was provided by yours truly; the guests were marvelous!   It was a blast!  Rest assured there will be real life anniversary celebrations come the weekend!  Here are a few photos from the SL fun!    

January 25 I think I shall not leave my room this day.  It seems whenever I do, I come upon something that so vexes me as to distract me from my work for hours, if not days.  Saturday, I took a walk in the park and came across that pretty lady publisher, Miss Frostbite.  In truth, I had hoped to see her.  Not only because she is so attractive and vibrant but because I have heard that she plans to start her publishing business here in Philomenaville with a book written by local authors and poets.  Miss Trolley told me the lady publisher has said she would like to meet me.  Well, now she has met me and I did not make the most favorable of impressions.  I came upon the pretty woman as she sat on a park bench next to none other than my own former suitor, Heximer Thane, of Alma, New York.  Mr. Thane had his arm thrown casually behind Miss Frostbite and she didn't seem to mind one little bit.  I tell you right now I minded even though I have no earthly right to let a thing like that

January 9 As if having that Heximer Thane mooning after me all over town wasn't bad enough!  I thought I was in the clear when I told him once and for all there could be no romance between us.  But now the man has gone and gotten himself made constable of Philamenaville!  Lord help me, what on Earth have a done to deserve having that man not just settled into my new home town, but settled in as an officer of the law!  I tell you there isn't enough alcohol or pipe tobacco on Earth to ease my mind about that! Lu watches from her window as the new constable makes his rounds.

I plan to celebrate the New Year by taking a day off from virtual worlds.  December 31, I am going to take a personal retreat in real life.  I'll spend that day with my dog, my cat, and my partner, focusing on what really matters to me.  There will be candles lit, poems read, music listened to.  There will be good food and some time spent outside.  Mostly, I'll be taking deep breaths in preparation for the coming year's challenges.    2015 will be the year in which I publish my first full-length, illustrated novel, Escape From Pig Hill .  It will be the year I publish the first Ermengarde the Expansive story I have written in twenty years.  There will be a new collection of poems and at least two new short stories.  2015 is also the year I will begin publishing in Second Life, possibly elsewhere, and it is the year I will become much more deeply entrenched in RP.    There will also be changes in my personal life.  My daughter will finish high school and start col

December 29, 1900 I had yet another uncomfortable encounter with Mr. Heximer Thane today.  This time, he actually came calling at my room over the stable.  Luckily, I already had my hat on, intending to head straight out the door to do my marketing.  Mr. Thane told me right away he wanted to have a serious talk with me.  That set off my warning bells.  I tried to tell him I was in a hurry but he said, "Miss Lu, it seems like you're always in a hurry to run off whenever we meet.  I can understand why, what with me being unemployed and having no home to offer a lady and all.  So I've come to tell you I am going to try to become a man worthy of a lady such as yourself." "Uh," I said trying to think of what to say to cut him off. "This very day, I plan to meet with the mayor and offer myself up to replace Philomenaville's constable.  I hear they been needin' an officer of the law in this little town for quite some time and the job's

December 22, 1900 It's almost Christmas.  For the first time, I actually hope to run into Mr. Heximer Thane.  He will probably the last person from home I ever see.  Mother, I miss you!

Well, that Heximer Thane darn near ruined the potluck, at least for me.  He showed up at Miss Sister's house on Pine Street all laden down with boxes.  It seems he found himself a job out at Grey Corner and has money to spare now.  Why he can't just keep his money and himself in Grey Corner, I couldn't possibly tell you!    He was about three hours early.  Miss Trolley and I were in Sister's kitchen baking our selves half to death.  I swear we made enough cookies and fudge to fix up the whole town for a whole year of Christmases!  Miss Trolley had her head in the oven so I went to get the door.   There he was, big as life in Miss Sister's doorway.   He had about four presents to put under the tree for this party.  And big bunches of fresh cut flowers for Miss Trolley, Miss Sister and me.  Where he got those flowers I will never know!  The whole of Philo County is buried in snow and there is not a fresh flower to be seen!  Must be somebody in Grey Corner has a
