Freda's Place

Hi all-- Hex and I will be taking a short break from virtual worlds in early February.  This means Jez (the other me) will be AWOL as well.  Some events will surely occur here during our absence, but I'll be unavailable for inworld emergencies or questions Feb. 2- 9.  During our vacation time, Hex and I will be going camping for a few days, fishing some, seeing some arts events in our community, and doing some of the work that must be done to ready our RL home for sale.  This time away is the reason this month's Belle Demeure newsletter is a two-parter that overlaps with February.  NOTE TO ALL WHO HOST EVENTS AT BELLE DEMEURE:  For inclusion in our next newsletter, please have event listings to me no later than Feb. 9 at 3 AM SLT.  If you would like events listed in our calendar or posted to the SL Events Guide, get them to me by 3 AM the Wednesday before the event is scheduled.  ________________________________________________________________...

Hello everyone!  In first life, Hex and I had a quiet Christmas with my daughter and her dad.  We didn't even put the tree up til Christmas Eve, which suited me just fine.  It'll come down by New Years, which also suits me.  Christmas Day, we went out to dinner at a diner about 30 miles from home.  It was really pretty impressive, so I suspect we'll be headed there for future holiday dinners.  (In case anyone wonders-- yes, we cook.  We even cook well.  But why bother when someone else can do the clean-up at a restaurant?) In less wonderful news, Hex is temporarily unemployed because of the US government shutdown.  For a while at least, that won't affect our inworld expenditures and activities.  If it reaches a point where it does, we'll still be around but doing things differently. Hello friends!  In first life, Hex and I are well into the throes of a Florida winter, meaning I had to wear socks yesterday.  I am happy to report that, In SL, no socks are required and I could wear flip flops every single day if my fashionably manicured avatarian feet did not scream for haute couture.  Of course, there are parts of SL where it is always winter, but, here, at Belle Demeure, it is eternal spring.  I do hope you'll drop by this month to feel the warmth and to see the holiday display in the main salon at the chateau.  Of course, I encourage you to to take in an event or two here as well.  We have quite a lot going on this month.  As always, you are invited.  I hope you'll start by attending IanLee Patton's art exhibit, opening December 2, at our Frostbite-Thane Gallery.  Ian is a well-established artist in his first life, as well as SL.
